|"Shopping for men is such a chore. All you really need is a few style tips to get you on your way". - David Gandy|
This icon is none other than UK’s number one male model, and Mr Dolce & Gabanna (well, he's been modelling for the brand for years already!) David Gandy!
I see David Gandy's style as impeccable yet very simple. I always see Gandy wearing suit in his interviews (YES, I AM A FAN). But the one thing that really amazes me is how David Gandy really gets everything right in his outfits, I mean, yes he's a supermodel and all and Dolce & Gabanna is just a one call away if ever he have outfit problems but what's perfect is how his outfits are perfectly tailored. And I think that's one thing that we can all learn --- getting the fit right, always. Finding the right cut suit and using a local tailor in order to get personal adjustments is a massive step in getting the right fitting suit.
Gandy’s style is definitively masculine; when he’s not providing an astute example of tailored perfection, he’s keeping it simple in well-fitting denim and bold blockbuster leathers. Gandy’s nominal approach is evident when dressing down too. While layers are one avenue in creating stylish outfits, a focus on fit and simplistic garments can often achieve the same result. For example, the signature Gandy casual look involves a shearling leather jacket with little more than a t-shirt and scarf for company.
David Gandy wears a mix of tailoring on a day-to-day basis. He certainly knows how to wear tailored blazers and waistcoats, and can often be seen using these suit separates with jeans, different colour trousers or even a simple t-shirt. David definitely knows his own body type and gets the fit PERFECT – it is almost like each item he wears was made exactly for him.
For casual days David still keeps his whole look smart and very fitted. There is nothing too outlandish, just basic v-neck and scoop neck tees, dark plain knitwear and slim fitting shirts. You do not often see this man in printed or graphic clothing, and it always fits him perfectly. He often goes without a belt if wearing jeans which just proves that he picks the right waist size in order to keep them up naturally – remember a belt should be an accessory in order to provide an individual touch to an outfit, not something you HAVE to use in order to stop your oversized trousers falling down! On the subject of accessories, David uses key gentlemen accessories such as pocket squares and lightweight scarves in order to really round out his tailored look.
Below are some of his lookbooks.
